Diagon Alley
[ ]Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes
Located at number 93, the Weasley twins have set up premises in Diagon Alley selling their joke wands, candies, and other goodies (OP29). The store is large, colorful, and filled with amazing things. It does a booming trade (HBP6).
Moderator: HM Genevieve Spenser
00
[ ]Ollivander's - Makers of Fine Wands since 382 BC
A narrow and shabby little shop. The window displays a faded purple cushion upon which sits a single wand. The walls are lined floor to ceiling with thousands of narrow boxes. The furniture consists of a single spindly chair. Ollivander's closed shortly after the beginning of the Second War. No one knows where Mr Ollivander went (HBP6).

[ ]The Apothecary
The Apothecary sells potion ingredients. It's a fascinating shop crammed with all sorts of interesting things. There are barrels of slimy stuff lined up on the floor and jars of all sorts of powders, herbs, and the like along the walls. Bundles of feathers, fangs, and claws hang from the ceiling.

[ ]Cauldron Shop
This shop, the closest one to the entrance from the alley behind the Leaky Cauldron, sells all sorts of cauldrons. Outside the shop, a stack of them shines in the sun, under a sign that reads:

Cauldrons

All sizes

Copper, Brass, Pewter, Silver

[ ]Eeylops Owl Emporium

Moderator: HM Genevieve Spenser
00
[ ]Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlor
Florean Fortescue served Harry free ice cream sundaes and offered advice about medieval witchcraft for a report Harry was writing (PA4). Boarded up after Florean disappeared at the start of the Second War (HBP6).

[ ]Flourish & Blotts
Manager is a bit brusque, but then he has to deal with strange and bothersome things like books that bite (The Monster Book of Monsters), books that are completely invisible (The Invisible Book of Invisibility), and book signings by Gilderoy Lockhart, who draws quite a crowd which can get a bit unruly at times
Moderator: HM Genevieve Spenser
00
[ ]Gringotts Wizarding Bank
Large white marble building, staffed by Goblins, so don't even think of trying to rob it if you know what's good for you. Knockturn Alley connects to Diagon Alley near the bank. The main floor of offices is on street level, but the vaults are miles below, accessable by a magic cart. It is rumored that the goblins keep dragons (PS5) and sphinxes (DP) down there to guard the high security vaults.
Moderator: HM Genevieve Spenser
00
[ ]Gambol & Japes
This shop, a favorite of Fred and George, sells a wide variety of tricks and practical joke items. The twins buy Dr. Filibuster's Fabulous Wet-Start, No-Heat Fireworks here (CS4).
Moderator: HM Genevieve Spenser
00
[ ]Madam Malkin's Robes for All Occasions
Madam Malkin is a squat, smiling witch wearing mauve robes. Madam Malkin's is next door to Flourish & Blott's. Hogwarts school robes are to be found here (PS5). During one summer sale, they sold robes which are spangled, self-ironing, beautifying, slimming, fattening, lengthening, temperature-adjusting, and plain, with a free frog-skin belt with every purchase (DP).
Moderator: HM Genevieve Spenser
00
[ ]Magical Menagerie
Hermione bought Crookshanks here. The walls are covered with cages and the place is noisy with the sounds of all the animals. The proprietor is a witch who wears heavy black spectacles. She offers advice and sells things like rat tonic. Other creatures for sale included:

enormous purple toads

gigantic tortoise with jewel-encrusted shell (probably a Fire-Crab)

poisonous orange snails (Streelers?)

a fat white rabbit that changed into a top hat and back

cats of every color

noisy cage of ravens

custard-colored furballs (probably Puffskeins)

sleek, black rats, rather more intelligent than normal rats

[ ]Quality Quidditch Supplies
Harry Potter's favorite shop in Diagon Alley is Quality Quidditch Supplies. He visited it often when he stayed for three weeks at the Leaky Cauldron, since that summer the new Firebolt racing broom had been introduced and the shop had one on display (PA4). Quality Quidditch Supplies displayed a full set of Chudley Cannons robes in the front window (CS4)

Kings Cross Station
[ ]Platform 9 3/4
Platform Nine and Three Quarters is a secret platform at King's Cross Station that takes Hogwarts students to another reality and to the Hogwarts Express.

Moderator: HM Genevieve Spenser
00
[ ]Hogwarts Express
It is a fictional magical train in the Harry Potter series. It is ridden by students between London and Hogsmeade. The train starts from King's Cross station platform 9¾, which is invisible to Muggle eyes and is reached through the barrier between platforms 9 and 10. Prefects of the school ride in a separate carriage near the front of the train. The compartments on the train appear to be lettered, for example compartment C, where the Slug Club first met in book 6, is probably near the back of the train. Upon disembarking the train at the Hogsmeade station, first years are treated to a ride across the lake by Hagrid into the Hogwarts Castle; all other students are carried into the main entrance of the castle in coaches drawn by (usually) invisible creatures called thestrals.

It has been suggested that the Hogwarts Express is likely a steam train only in appearance and purpose, borrowing its form and intended function from real steam trains, but not the technology.

00
[ ]Hogsmeade Station
The station, where the Hogwarts Express ends its journey north from Platform Nine-And-Three-Quarters, is located near the lake. A road extends from the train station around the lake to Hogwarts Castle (PS6, PA5, GF11). The station is actually quite a distance from the town itself, being on the opposite side of the Hogwarts grounds

Hogsmeade
[ ]Honeydukes Sweetshop
Owned by Ambrosius Flume (HBP4) and his wife, who live over the shop; an entrance to one of the secret tunnels from Hogwarts is in the cellar under a trap door. Honeydukes not only sells a wide variety of sweets, they also make their own fudge and enormous blocks of chocolate.

[ ] The Three Broomsticks
Owner: Madam Rosmerta
A great spot to drink butterbeer, although they also serve gillywater, mulled mead, red currant rum, and even cherry syrup and soda with ice and an umbrella (PA10). There are tables, booths, and a mirror over the bar.

Moderator: HM Genevieve Spenser
00
[ ]Zonko's Joke Shop
Zonko's is a favourite place for Hogwarts students to shop. They carry "jokes and tricks to fulfill even Fred's and George's wildest dreams," including Dungbombs, Hiccup Sweets, Frog Spawn Soap, and Nose-Biting Teacups (PA14). During the dark time of 1996 and 1997, Zonko's closed and was boarded up. Fred and George visited Hogsmeade with an eye toward possibly buying the premises and turning it into a Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes

00
[ ]The Shrieking Shack
Reputed to be the most haunted house in Britain, the Shrieking Shack gets its name from the terrifying screams and noises heard coming from it some twenty years ago. The Shack has been silent for years, but the reputation lives on. The windows are completely boarded up. Outside the house is a dank, overgrown garden. The entrances are all sealed; even Fred and George couldn't figure out how to get in. The Hogwarts ghosts avoid the place, saying that it's the home of a "rough crowd."

[ ]Dervish and Banges
Shop that sells and repairs magical equipment, located near the end of the High Street
Moderator: HM Genevieve Spenser
00
[ ]Madam Puddifoot's
owner: Madam Puddifoot
A small, cramped tea shop with decor on the tacky side of frilly, filled with small circular tables, located on a side street off the High Street; the only Hogwarts students who seem to patronize the place are trysting couples. The owner uses a revoltingly sappy decor for Valentine's Day (floating golden cherubs occasionally throwing pink confetti)
Moderator: HM Genevieve Spenser
00
[ ]Gladrags Wizardwear
Clothier, with additional shops in London and Paris. Among other things, you can buy strange socks there
Moderator: HM Genevieve Spenser
00
[ ]Scrivenshaft's Quill Shop
Located on the High Street; Hermione bought a black-and-gold pheasant-feather quill there in October 1995 (OP16, OP25)
Moderator: HM Genevieve Spenser

[ ]Post Office
At least three hundred owls, from Great Grays to tiny Scops ("Local Deliveries Only"), wait to carry messages. They sit on shelves that are color-coded, depending on how fast you want your letter to get to its destination

[ ]The Hog's Head
sign: a wild boar's severed head leaking blood onto the white cloth around it
barman: grumpy-looking old man with a great deal of long grey hair and beard, who looked vaguely familiar to Harry (OP16)
A small inn in Hogsmeade, on a side street off the main street, much dirtier (and attracting a more, er, interesting, clientele) than the Three Broomsticks. The bar consists of a single small, dirty room smelling strongly of something that might be goats; while students are permitted to go in, they're advised to bring their own glasses. It's something of a fashion to hide one's face in the Hog's Head, by wearing a hood or veil; Hagrid once won a dragon egg from a hooded stranger in a card game there and shrugged it off, saying that "yeh get a lot o' funny folk in the Hog's Head." (PS16, OP16). Sites of Historical Sorcery mentions that 'the inn' was the headquarters of the 1612 goblin rebellion (PA5), so more secret passages that the Marauders didn't find might possibly be associated with it.

Ministry Of Magic
[ ]Visitors' Entrance
A visitor to the Ministry of Magic comes to a broken-down red telephone box located on a dingy street which has several shabby offices, a pub, and a wall covered with graffitti. When the telephone in the box is dialed (62442, the word M-A-G-I-C), the welcome witch's voice answers, not from the phone but from the air as if the person is standing right there. Visitors must state their business, upon which a silver badge pops out with the visitor's name and purpose of visit. Then the telephone box drops down like a lift for about one minute, after which the visitor is in the Atrium.

00
[ ]The Atrium
The Atrium is a large hall with fireplaces up and down both long walls. Down the left-hand side of the hall are gilded fireplaces which witches and wizards can use to arrive at the Ministry. The right-hand side contains gilded fireplaces as well, and these are used for departures. The floor is polished dark wood. The ceiling is peathingy blue with golden symbols moving across it. The Fountain of Magical Brethren lies halfway down the Atrium. A group of golden statues, depicting a wizard, a witch, a centaur, a goblin, and a house-elf, spout water into the surrounding pool of water. At the end of the Atrium is a set of golden gates, next to which is a security stand. Eric Munch is usually on duty here. He registers the wands of visitors. Another smaller hall is beyond the gates and here there is a series of lifts.

The Atrium is apparently Level Eight. The lifts provide access to the other levels, except the tenth.

Moderator: HM Genevieve Spenser
00
[ ]Level Ten
This level can only be reached by the stairs to the left of the door which leads to the Department of Mysteries on Level Nine. Courtroom Ten was first seen during Harry's first forays into Dumbledore's Pensieve, when he witnessed various Death Eater trials (GF30). Dungeon-like corridors lead to Courtroom Ten. The walls of the courtroom are dark stone. In the center of the room is a chair covered in chains that stands below rows of high benches on which the Wizengamot sit.
